The back of a size 46 or larger jacket cannot be made with a single width of fabric, so a T-back like this is used. This 1946 model features the original branded buttons but retains the essence of the World War II era in its fabric and details. Unlike the wartime models produced under regulations, it doesn’t have the letter “S” at the beginning of its product number. The denim fabric appears slightly bluish and milder compared to the 1943 model but still maintains a rugged texture in contrast to later-day ones. It is adorned with plain steel rivets and a silver chrome lily buckle. While the stitching on this model is relatively subdued compared to other wartime models, some areas exhibit rough sewing. A renowned vintage denim collector, Shigeki Wakiya, has joined this project with a focus on faithfully replicating the “character” of super rare, deadstock, and golden-sized super-vintage pieces that are nearly impossible to find today. The inaugural collection features four super-vintage pieces, which have garnered significant attention in the current vintage market and are known as the “World War II model.” Drawing inspiration from unwashed deadstock vintage denim blouses and jeans, complete with residual glue, new denim fabrics were developed and painstakingly duplicated to match the original vintages, capturing the color hue of oxidized indigo and the characteristics of the warp and weft yarns. Various components are created to emulate the aged appearance of deadstock, including the steel buckles, which, for safety reasons, had been previously avoided.
